One of the best parts of staying in Baltimore is the food, and our guests — whether here for a week of consulting meetings or a long-term healthcare assignment — always end up asking the same question: where should I actually eat?
Near Federal Hill, Cross Street Market is the easiest answer. It’s a short walk from most of our homes and covers everything from fresh seafood counters to tacos to a proper cup of coffee in the morning before a full day of meetings. For something a little slower, Federal Hill’s Light Street strip has a solid run of sit-down restaurants perfect for an evening out without needing to drive anywhere.
If you’re staying in historic Arcadia, you’re closer to some of the city’s under-the-radar neighborhood spots — smaller, local-run kitchens that don’t show up on every “best of Baltimore” list but are exactly the kind of place regulars come back to. It’s also an easy jump into downtown or Belair-Edison if you want more variety.
No trip to Baltimore is complete without a proper crab cake, and Faidley’s at Lexington Market remains the benchmark — jumbo lump, minimal filler, eaten standing at the counter the way it’s meant to be. It’s a bit of a drive from either neighborhood, but worth the detour at least once.
For guests working long hours, we’ve stocked each home with coffee and the basics so you’re never starting your morning empty-handed, but half the fun of a Baltimore stay is discovering a new lunch spot between meetings or a quiet dinner after a shift. Keep a running list — you’ll want to come back.
